Reward your employees when they work hard and show you that they are providing exceptional customer service. Your employees can be the reason why your customers come back again and again. Don’t think that since you may pay the minimum wage that you have average employees. Be creative – offer incentives to them and put in place a system that rewards them for their outstanding attitude and efforts. It could be an extra ½ day off with pay or a gift certificate to a local eatery for meeting and exceeding your standards. I know a local convenience store that I frequent at least twice a week where I am always greeted with a smile and a warm hello – not the mechanical one that you sometimes get at other stores. The employees always seem honestly happy to see me and serve me. It makes me feel good about doing business with this store, and I always leave with a smile on my face.
